os dois são "porquês", mas um você usa pra perguntar, o outro pra responder.

já o "cause" significa causa.
e sempre vai ser causa, mas as vezes você vai dizer "causa", com sentido de razão, motivo ou origem.

ex:
a) causa: 'cause' 'causar' dano).
b) origem: the 'root cause' of the problems.(a 'origem/raiz' dos problemas).
c) motivo: there is 'a cause' for my concerns.(existe 'um motivo/uma causa' para as minhas preocupações).
d) razão: he hit me without a 'good cause'.(ele me bateu sem ter uma 'boa causa/razão').

vai depender muito do contexto e da intenção de quem fala.
você vai falar "causa", mas as vezes, colocando outro sentido. a gente faz muito isso, queremos falar uma palavra, mas outra palavra semelhante ou sinônima as vezes cabe melhor na frase.
as vezes ao invés de falar "o motivo pelo qual eu caí", você vai preferir usar 'razão' ou 'causa' ao invés de 'motivo'.
ou seja, 'causa' em inglês pode ser, dependendo do contexto, motivo, razão, circunstância, origem
mas não é muito frequente. é mais frequente 'causa' significar 'causa' mesmo.

depois de ler muitos exemplos, você se acostuma.
